Brazil's president-elect Dilma Rousseff will be seated next to the country's incumbent president, Luiz Lula da Silva, during this week's Group of 20 (G-20) Summit in Seoul, a spokeswoman for the South Korean organizing committee said Wednesday.
"Two leaders from Brazil will attend the summit but we will treat both of them as heads of the state," spokeswoman Sohn Jie-ae told reporters.
The presence of Brazil's next president will create a rare scene at the summit, she added.
Rousseff was greeted by South Korea's land and maritime affairs minister when she entered the country aboard a commercial flight Wednesday, Sohn said.
The president-elect, who will be sworn in as Brazil's first female president in January, will attend summit talks as well as luncheon and dinner meetings together with the incumbent leader, she said.
President Lula is scheduled to arrive here Thursday afternoon.
Meanwhile, three leaders -- from the United States, Russia and Germany -- plan to have their own bullet-proof cars transported to Seoul from their own countries, Sohn said.
