Twenty-one diplomats from around the world will attend a two-week program organized by South Korea to raise awareness of the country among foreign service officers from developing nations, the foreign ministry said Friday.
The program, set for Nov. 8-19, will provide the diplomats from 20 developing nations, including Mongolia, Colombia, Ukraine and Nigeria, with lectures on South Korea's diplomacy policies, economic development experience, North Korea-related issues, Korean culture and other issues, the ministry said.
The foreign diplomats will also be taken on a tour of the National Assembly, cultural sites in the ancient city of Gyeongju and other locations across the country, including such industrial facilities as the factories of top steelmaker POSCO and automaker Hyundai Motor, the ministry said.
South Korea has been organizing the program every year since 2000 to promote its image and improve relations with the participating nations. As of last year, a total of 215 foreign diplomats have attended the program, the ministry said.
