The fourth session of the fifth meeting of Techiman Municipal Assembly was dissolved on Monday with a call on members to continue to render services to their communities.
Mr Alex Kofi Kyeremeh, Municipal Chief Executive for Techiman, made the call in his address to the 61-member Assembly at its third ordinary meeting.
The dissolution of the Assembly is to pave the way for new elections to be organised by the Electoral Commission on December 28.
He stressed the significant role that Assembly Members play in local governance and that their sacrificial services helped to accelerate the development of the municipality.
Mr Kyeremeh appealed to the out-going Assembly Members not to withdraw from the activities of the Assembly but to continue to share their experiences with the next Assembly.
He commended members for their enormous contributions in their respective areas and expressed the hope to see some of them re-elected to the sixth assembly next year.
Mr Kyeremeh said the Assembly would promptly pay them gratuity as a token of appreciation for their services on the recommendations of the
Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.
Mr Kyeremeh said some of achievements of the Assembly included the procurement of 7,500 pieces of furniture for distribution to basic schools,
construction of school blocks, aqua-privy toilets as well as the mechanization of boreholes.
Alhaji Hafiz Adam, Municipal Co-ordinating Director, lauded the efforts of the Assembly members during their four-year term and appealed to them to continue serving their communities in whatever capacities they might find themselves.
Mr. Agyei Mensah, Presiding Member, on behalf of traditional authorities commended the out-going members for their selfless roles in the development of the municipality.
He urged the members to regard the Assembly as a training ground and aspire for other leadership positions.
