The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has noted that it is waiting on the newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, to provide adequate security for Electoral Commission (EC) officials to declare the outcome of results from the remaining polling stations in Ablekuma North.
The constituency remains without a Member of Parliament following a disagreement between the NPP and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) over the results of the 2024 parliamentary election.
The NDC has since taken the matter to court, seeking an order to have its parliamentary candidate, Ewurabena Aubyn, declared the winner.
Speaking on the issue, the NPP’s Director of Legal Affairs, Gary Nimako, emphasized that the party expects action from the new IGP.
“We have been engaging the new IGP and the Electoral Commission, and we are waiting for security to collate the only three outstanding polling stations,” he said.
“In any event, if you put together a collation of the entire polling station, you will know who has won or lost. So, they just have to put it together, and when they do, the official can tell us who has won or lost,” he added.
