The Progressive People's Party (PPP) has stated that the electorate expects accountability from President-elect, John Dramani Mahama's administration.
It said Ghanaians would not tolerate misconduct from his officials, while perpetrators of corrupt deals go unpunished.
This was contained in a congratulatory message issued in Accra and signed by its Chairman, Nana Ofori Owusu to Mr Mahama on his convincing victory in the presidential elections on December 7, 2024.
It assured the Mahama administration that the PPP remained committed to offering collaboration and constructive criticisms to help the incoming government become the best Ghana had experienced since the ushering in of the 1992 Constitution.
It acknowledged the challenges surrounding the parliamentary results in some constituencies but noted that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had secured a convincing majority in the next Parliament.
"We would like to take this opportunity to remind Mr President-elect and the NDC that this success sends a clear message from the people of Ghana, that the politics of wickedness, selfishness and mafia-like behaviour should not be emulated by your administration," it stated.
The PPP's congratulatory message comes as the NDC celebrates its victory, with the party securing almost two-thirds of the total seats in the next Parliament.
In a message, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Alhaji Mohammed Frimpong said the priceless outcome of the elections was peace and stability in a positive national aspiration of progress and prosperity.
He congratulated President-elect, John Mahama and all those who won parliamentary seats.
He said the NDP’s participation in the elections was “a great opportunity to advance true, realistic and enduring policy alternative to surmount Ghana's perennial socio-politico-economic challenges in an Inclusive/Participatory Leadership.
“My political party, the NDP, and I remain excited at the end of the elections that we registered and articulated profoundly the message of an incontrovertible alternative policy that underlies the nation's Governance and Leadership,” he stated.
