The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Vice Presidential Candidate, Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang has commended the people of Anlo for co-existing in peace over the years, saying that was worthy of emulation by others.
“Peace is more important than anything else,” she reiterated at the just-ended Hogbetsotso 2024 grand durbar in Anloga.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang, said peace required respect for one another, and transparency from the leadership.
She said Ghanaians was at a crucial trajectory of choice to save the country from further chaos and hardship.
The NDC vice presidential candidate said all hopes were not lost as they the NDC flag bearer; John Dramani Mahama was poised to save the country from its present situation and respond to the needs of the people and reset the country onto the path of progress.
Meanwhile, the chiefs and people of Akatsi have enstooled Professor Opoku-Agyemang as a queen with stool name Mama Ngorgbe (Development Queen) of Ave-Dakpa in the Akatsi North District, in recognition of her valiant leadership roles in various sectors in Ghana and beyond, during her three-day campaign tour of the Volta Region which ended last week.
They cited her achievement as the first female Chancellor of public university, and President of the Forum for African Women Educationalists, and her untiring efforts to enhance education in Ghana while servicing as the Minister of Education.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang during her tour of the region highlighted the NDC’s firm stance to commit resources and zeal towards the advancement women, and said that testified to the all-inclusive development plans of the NDC.
She renewed her appeal to the electorate to vote massively for the NDC in the upcoming elections for the economic, educational, industrial and social transformation of the country, which she said suffered serious development setbacks in the New Patriotic Party.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang’s tour also took her to North Tongu, South Tongu, Keta, Keta South, Adaklu, Ho Central, Ho West, South Dayi, North Dayi, Kpando and Hohoe constituencies.
The Volta Regional Chairman of the NDC, Mawutor Agbavitor last Friday (November 8), in an official statement, thanked Professor Opoku-Agyemang for her hope-renewing tour of 11 constituencies in the region, saying she had reignited the spirit of unity among the people.
“Her engagement with the people had not only strengthened our resolve but also highlighted the critical importance of the upcoming election for the future of our beloved country,” he added.
