The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Manso Nkwanta in the Ashanti Region, Samuel Adjei, has urged his constituents to examine their living conditions before voting on December 7, 2024.
He said voting for the NDC presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, and the party’s parliamentary candidates would ease the current harsh economic conditions and restore hope to them.
He said under the current economic condition, it would be unwise to retain the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in power.
Mr Adjei, a law student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), was addressing more than 2,000 party faithful after a "Walk4victory" exercise at Pakyi No. 1 and 2 in the region.
The four-hour walk brought people from all walks of life to drum home the need to change the current government to bring back development.
The constituency is one of the neglected areas of the region characterised by bad roads and poor general infrastructure.
Mr Adjei said the only tarred road from Anwia Nkwanta to Abore was constructed under the NDC regime.
"We share boundaries with Manso Adubia, Atwima Mponua, Atwima Kwanwoma, Bekwai, and Atwima Nwabiagya South but all these constituencies have got their fair share of roads under the eight years rule of the NPP, but not a single kilometre of road has been tarred for Manso and Bontefufuom area," he said.
Mr Adjei accused the NPP of being selective in the provision of basic amenities and said that practice would stop under the NDC.
"I dare them to construct the road from Anwia Nkwanta to Manso Nkwanta before leaving office. In fact, I will resign if they are able to do so," he said.
The parliamentary candidate urged the people of Manso and Bontefufuom in particular to act like those in the swing constituencies in the region such as New Adubiase, Ejura and Sekyere Afram Plains who voted on issues.
