Former diplomat Berhane Kidanemariam, who resigned last week as the deputy chief of mission at the Ethiopian embassy in Washington, says "war and conflict" is everywhere in the Horn of Africa nation that no media was covering.
He told BBC Newsday, without evidence, that there were ongoing conflicts in Oromia and Benishangul Metekel regions that were under-reported.
"Everywhere in Ethiopia [there] is displacement, war and conflict. But as you might understand no media is giving coverage to what's happening in Ethiopia. So I should talk out of what the situation is back home," he said.
The former diplomat urged the US to speak out more on the Tigray conflict "because people are dying now".
In his resignation, Mr Berhane had accused Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed of leading the country "down a dark path toward destruction and disintegration".
The Ethiopian government denies that its troops committed atrocities in Tigray.
