The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ellembelle, Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah has supported two hundred youth who went through apprenticeship training programme with sewing machines, hairdryers and other technical tools worth GHc72,000 as start-up kits.

He introduced the apprenticeship Programme in 2016, where 700 young men and women were engaged in dressmaking, hairdressing, building construction, mechanics, masonry among others to empower them to be economically independent in society.

Mr.Armah Kofi Buah paid for their admission fees to see them through, but due to hunger and other factors, 350 youth dropped out of the training.

So far 200 have graduated from the MP's Programme and awarded certificates from the Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association and National Association of Beauticians and Hairdressers.

Addressing the beneficiaries, residents and NDC supporters at Aiyinasi, Mr Buah disclosed that he promised them the tools at the end of the Programme, adding that "I sent 700 young men and women, paid for their admission fees at a cost of GHC375,000 but due to hunger, some stopped and only 350 are able to remain in the Programme and today 200 have graduated and as I promised them we are here to give them their tools valued at GHc72,000 to set up their own businesses".

Mr.Buah pledged to do same for the remaining 150 who were yet to graduate from the Programme.

The MP who is seeking re-election on the ticket of the NDC, emphasized that he was not doing the apprenticeship Programme because of politics.

"I am not doing this because of politics, but I really love the youth of Ellembelle and that is why I am doing this so let's embrace the programme and let us all clap for the NDC and John Mahama for stating in their manifesto that they will introduce National Apprenticeship Programme to train the willing youth of Ghana free of charge and support them with monthly allowances and provide them with tools at the end of the training".

Mr Armah-Kofi Buah asked the youth to return the NDC into power to bring the one million jobs in the country to reduce unemployment.

He gave thanks to the trainers of the graduates and lauded them for reducing their admission fees to GHC400 instead of GHC600 as of 2016.

The benevolent Mr Buah also thanked the beneficiaries for dedicating their time to pass through so many sufferings to achieve their goals.

He therefore, urged them to set up their businesses and also train others.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Ms Veronica Mensah from Aiyinasi Nyamebekyere who graduated from dressmaking, gave thanks to Mr Buah for supporting them to become independent in their communities and prayed to God to bless the MP to achieve his vision.

Mr Patrick Essien, who is a fashion designer and a tailor at Aiyinasi, testified that Mr Armah-Kofi Buah brought five youth to train them and stated that the programme was unprecedented.

"Armah Buah has done well and one thing I like about him is that he does not look at your political colours before helping you because those that he brought to me to train, some of them are NPP members and today some have received their machines, God bless him".

In all, 130 sewing machines were given to the tailors and seamstresses,50 hair dryers to hairdressers, three set of electrical tools were given to electricians, three mechanics also received tools, two welders received tools with one mason receiving building construction tools.
