An aspiring General Secretary of the Conventions People’s Party (CPP), Mr Joseph Kwadwo Afari-Yeboah, says he intends to use consensus building through elaborate consultations to make the party strong enough to win elections in the country.
According to him, his corporate management skills as well as his professionalism and strong teamwork would enable him to work with all other elected and appointed officers of the party to bring the party back to power after so many years of political drought.
Tour Speaking to the Daily Graphic after a four-day tour of the Central Region, Mr Afari-Yeboah said: "We have the honour and blueprint to reorganise to attract our people who have temporarily gone to stay with other parties."
The tour took him to the Assin constituencies, Twifo Praso, Saltpond, Agona Swedru, Denkyira, among other constituencies, during which he interacted with supporters and members of the CPP. He said he spoke to members of the party on "Rebuilding CPP, Rebuilding Ghana".
Positive reception He said the positive reception given him was an indication that Ghanaians were tired of the political rhetoric from the two major parties.
"By 2028, we should be functional again as a political party and reach out to many and bring them back to our fold,” he stated. At Saltpond, where the party was birthed, Mr Afari-Yeboah said he was warmly received by traditional leaders who prayed for him and his team and wished them well in their endeavours.
He said he would develop a four-year framework for the rebuilding and restructuring the CPP as a medium-term plan when elected as the General Secretary.
Mr Afari-Yeboah, who is a Marketing Communication Consultant, said he would develop and initiate a six-month operational framework to ensure the CPP would win seats to represent the party in Parliament in 2021.
Party administration He also pledged to straighten the party’s administration from the constituency through the regional to the National Secretariat, pointing out that he intended to achieve that through “innovation and ICT based system to enhance information and data system for the party.”
Mr Afari-Yeboah, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Threshold Africa Logistics Limited, noted that he would institute effective fundraising and financial administration for the party to ensure sustainability, adding that he would ensure that “CPP gets membership into Socialist International and other sister organisations across the world.”
He also pledged to build a strong media presence for the party, stressing that he would work to make the CPP the preferred party of the Ghanaian youth and the general masses.
