The flagbearer of People’s National Convention (PNC), Dr. Edward Nasigri Mahama, has said that he would commit vast resources towards enhancing the capacity of master craftsmen in the Volta Region, when given the nod.
This would enable them to train more artisans and quality service delivery for the other West African market, he said. Dr. Mahama was speaking to journalists at the Ho Jubilee Park on Saturday where he graced this year’s yam festival of the people of the Asogli State.
He said, the region was endowed with highly skilled masons, carpenters and other craftsmen who are capable of transforming the fortunes of the country if given the appropriate attention and recognition by government.
Dr. Mahama pledged his administration would support the Ho Technical University to develop the appropriate curriculum for people with hands-on skills to boost the manpower requirements for the country’s infrastructural development programmes.
“Training ample craftsmen and also exporting some of them to our sister countries will definitely be a positive thing to do to enhance our economy”, Dr Mahama added.
