The Fountain Gate Church, at the weekend
inaugurated a new Junior High School it has built in the Bolgatanga Municipality in the Upper
East Region at the cost of 443,238.98 Ghana cedis.The school complex, called Fountain Gate International School, has 27 assrooms,
administrative block, dinning hall, sports stadium, and swimming pool among other facilities.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Director of the School, Reverend Mrs. Rosemond Anaba commended the Church for complementing government's efforts at improving education in the country.
She said the church was supporting the School to train people for the development of the country adding that the school since it was established in 1996 had been scoring 100 per cent in the Basic Education Certificate Examination and had also scored average of 80 per cent distinction.
Rev. Mrs Anaba said the educational institution started with 107 school children but now it had a population of 640 children.
Mrs. Lucy Awuni, Upper East Deputy Regional Minister, commended the church for its contribution to the development of education.
She said that government was committed to providing schools with libraries equipped with
computers, lecture halls, staff bungalows, dormitories, laboratories among others towards the
development of education.
The Deputy Regional Minister cautioned school authorities to avoid indulging in indecent
relationship with school children, instead they should live above reproach and serve as role
models.
Mrs. Agnes Atagabe, Regional Director of Education, in a speech read on her behalf,
commended the Church for contributing to the development of the human resource base of
the country.
She appealed to private schools in the region to plan their activities together and to charge
moderate school fees so that parents could send their children to schools.
