Health workers have been urged to regularly put
on protective clothes and masks in order to reduce the risk of infection at their work places.
Mr Agyenim Boateng, Principal Medical Assistant in-charge of the Ejisu Government Hospital, said it was important for health workers, who always
come into direct contact with patients, to use protective gear to avoid contracting viruses and other infectious diseases.
Mr Boateng was addressing the third quarter in-service training workshop for staff of the hospital at Ejisu.
It aimed at educating the workers on some of the hazards ranging from, biological, physical, chemical and electrical to psychological, that they
daily were daily exposed to at the work place and to strategize to minimize these.
Mr Boateng pointed out that with the emergence of new diseases and viruses such as HIV, Hepatitis B, avian flu and others, health workers stood greater risk of infection and there was the need for them to always be cautious and protect themselves.
The Medical Assistant said if occupational hazards were not managed properly it could affect productivity at the work place.
He appealed to the government to work to ensure that the Disability Law was enforced to enable disabled persons have easy access to health facilities.
