Asante Mampong Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Edward Oduro-Kwarteng, has appealed to Government and other stakeholders in education to design programmes in the universities for police personnel to up-grade their professional skills and competencies.
In an interview with Ghana News Agency at Asante-Mampong, he said when police personnel up-grade their knowledge and capacity it would help them to combat high technological crimes such as cyber fraud.
Chief Superintendent Oduro-Kwarteng, pointed out that most organised crimes recently had become complicated due to the use of Information, Communication and Technology, that required an equally highly-trained police personnel with in-depth knowledge in criminology.
He appealed to the public not to sympathise with criminals but collaborate with the police to arrest these miscreants for the safety of society.
Chief Superintendent Oduro-Kwarteng noted that land and chieftaincy disputes and other related crimes were counter productive to the socio-economic development achievements made and urged stakeholders to endeavour to address those challenges.
He urged traditional rulers within Asante Mampong Municipality to settle chieftaincy disputes amicably before they generated into serious communal conflicts.
Chief Superintendent Oduro-Kwarteng commended chiefs and people of Asante Mampong Traditional Area for their efforts to provide accommodation for police personnel and called on the government to help with the speedy completion of the project.
