Reverend Father Mark Withers, a lecturer at the Spiritan University College, has appealed to leaders to be people-centred in the discharge of their duties.
He said being committed to the welfare of the people was a hallmark of good leadership and that Ghana and the African continent in general could properly utilise the abundant natural resources at their disposal when leaders were committed to the cause of their people.
Rev Father Withers was speaking at a ceremony to climax the Student's Representative Council (SRC) Week of the College at Ejisu in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality.
He appealed to the students to take interest in research to help them become innovative to address societal problems.
He stressed the need for the students to maintain high moral standards in the pursuit of academic laurels since knowledge without conscience does not help them to realise their full potentials.
Mr Dakyie Berthrand, the SRC President, cautioned his colleagues to be law-abiding and be serious with their studies.
