A Saudi crude tanker that was hijacked by pirates in the Arabian Sea on Monday has regained freedom, the Dubai-based satellite channel Al Arabiya TV reported on its website.
The tanker named Sirius Star is owned by Saudi Aramco, the state-owned national oil company of Saudi Arabia, according to the report. It is the first crude tanker to be hijacked by pirates in the area.
Twenty-five crewmen from Croatia, Britain, the Philippines, Poland and Saudi Arabia were on board, and the tanker was attacked by pirates 450 nautical miles (833 km) southeast of Mombasa, Kenya, a statement by the US Navy was quoted as saying.
However, Saudi Aramco said that it had no knowledge of any release.
