Mr Adams Dawda, Course Prefect of 2008 Certificate in Labour Studies at the Ghana Labour College has donated a four-burner gas cooker with oven valued at 450 Ghana cedis to the college authorities.
Making the donation at the 8th graduation ceremony of the college in Accra on Saturday, Mr Dawda appealed to the Trades Union Congress (TUC) and the University of Cape Coast who collectively developed the course and other partners to come to the aid of the college.
He said the college needed materials and logistics to enable the authorities to run the school effectively.
Mr Dawda, also the Executive Director of the Humanitarian Foundation, a Non Governmental Organisation based in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District said the course was developed for people in leadership positions in some national unions and private organisations.
He said it would therefore help participants if some of the universities advanced programmes such as Diploma in Labour Studies would be introduced in the college.
He said the TUC should also create a platform for selected or nominated members to stand on the ticket of the organisation as parliamentary candidates to guarantee the right of labour.
Mr Dawda stated that labour laws that had out-lived their substance or laws that were inimical to the welfare of labour must be repealed and replaced with labour friendly ones.
According to him, when this was done, the voice and views of labour would be heard and adhered to respectively.
Mr Emmanuel Adjei Domson, District Chief Executive of Asikuma Odoben-Brakwa presented the item on behalf of Mr Dawda, a native of the district, to Mr Daniel Dokenoo, Principal of the College.
Mr Dokenoo expressed his profound appreciation to the donor and gave the assurance that it would be used as it was meant for.
