Mr Edward Ennin, Member of Parliament (MP) for Obuasi, has presented a number of items to the Obuasi Government Hospital to enhance health care delivery in the municipality
The items, which included 25 beds, 40 mattresses, 30 wheel chairs and one medicine trolley, were donated by the Obuasi Kroye Kuo in Italy following an appeal made by the MP.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Mr Ennin said Obuasi citizens in America had pledged to donate an incubator for the hospital, adding; "I was at their fund raising programme to enable them fulfil their commitment."
The MP said the health care of the people was of great concern to him and that this prompted him to solicit for support to improve conditions at the hospital and other health centres in the municipality.
He appealed to the residents in the municipality to embrace the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) so that they could enjoy affordable health care.
Mr Ennin urged the hospital authorities to take good care of the items so as to benefit a lot of the patients.
The MP appealed to the authorities to etch the names of the contributors on a plaque at the hospital for posterity sake and to motivate other citizens to contribute to the growth of the hospital.
Nana Asirifi Asare II, Presiding Member of the Obuasi Municipal Assembly commended the MP for his efforts to improve on the health delivery system in the municipality.
"The efforts of the MP to get improved health care delivery demonstrate his commitment to the health of people in the municipality," he said.
Mr Felix Archer, Hospital Administrator, gave the assurance that the items would be put o good use.
He expressed the hope that the hospital would receive more of such donations to enable them to give healthcare services to the people.
