At least 25 sand miners were feared dead in a sandslide Thursday in Sulawesi Island, east of Indonesia, Health Ministry said Friday.
Head of crisis center of the ministry Rustam Pakaya said the mishap occurred when the miners were collecting sand from sand mine.
"A huge amount of sand fell down and buried the 25 people yesterday afternoon," he told Xinhua.
Rescue operation was underway as none of the bodies had yet found so far, said Pakaya.
Lack of safety regulations and measures has been blamed for the common mining accidents in Indonesia.
