A Circuit Court in Accra on Thursday ordered the arrest of a former student of Accra Polytechnic who gained admission into the school with a forged Senior High School results slip.
This followed Charlotte Mensah's absence in court when the case was called. The court therefore issued a bench warrant to effect her arrest.
Charlotte has been charged for possessing forged document.
Kofi Saah, a teacher, who is alleged to have played a role in the acquisition of the forged results slips has been remanded by the court presided over Mrs Ivy Heward-Mills.
Saah has pleaded not guilty to conspiracy and he is expected to reappear on Friday.
An accomplice whose name was given as Nii is at large.
The facts as narrated by Chief Inspector Ben Darfour are that on June 4, this year, a witness in the case arrested Charlotte and set her to the Ministries Police Station for forging her results slip.
According to the witness, Charlotte had used the forged slip bearing her name, index number 741500260 and serial number SSS (PC) 045049 to secure admission at the Accra Polytechnic.
The prosecution said investigations revealed that Charlotte who completed Nsei Senior High School at Axim in 1999 was unable to attain the relevant grades and sat as a private candidate in 2001, 2002 and 2003 yet could still not make it.
According to the prosecutor, in March 2004, Charlotte met Saah and two other accomplices, namely Nii and Manu, both large, at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle and they agreed to secure Charlotte the required result slip.
Charlotte, the prosecutor said, presented her original certificate to Saah and his accomplices. In May 2004, Saah met Charlotte and gave her the forged results slip. She presented the slip and gained admission to Accra Polytechnic in 2007.
In May this year, the authorities after cross-checking with WAEC, found it to be fake.
When Charlotte was arrested she admitted the offence. Investigations led to the arrest of Saah who denied being the originator of the forged slip and mentioned Manu and Nii, who are at large, at the source.
