The Volta Regional Directorate of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and its Keta Municipal Office are to hold an emergency meeting to discuss havoc caused by tidal waves in the Keta area during the past few days.
About 100 houses along the beaches at Dzita, Dakordzi and Akplowutorkor all in the Keta District were destroyed.
Several residents have been displaced and are living with relatives in nearby communities,.
The Anloga-Anyanui road has been submerged between Dakodzi and Dzita, making it unmotorable.
Mr. Edward Kofi Ahiabor, Keta Municipal Chief Executive who visited the affected areas told the GNA that the number of affected people was now being verified.
He said the emergency meeting would determine mitigating measures to support those affected.
The affected communities have often beet hit by tidal waves for some years now.
At Aflao, the sea surged on Thursday morning into homes about 500 metres from the shoreline raising anxiety among residents.
No houses were destroyed by the surges which abated by noon.
