The government is spending 7.230 billion cedis on projects at the Kanton Secondary School at Tumu in the Sissala East District under the Model School Programme.
Projects that are being executed in the school included an administrative block, computer centre and home economics and visual arts blocks and they would be completed by July 2008.
Mr. Clement Luri, Manager of Lubie Construction Works who is undertaking the projects, said this when the Headmaster of the school, Mr. Johnson Serbuoh, conducted the Upper West Regional Minister, Mr. George Hikah Benson, round to inspected the projects on Monday.
Mr. Benson was on his maiden visit to the Sissala East and West districts.
Mr. Luri said the old administrative block of the school would be converted into classrooms while a dormitory would also be renovated.
Mr. Benson also inspected an assembly hall, a lecture theatre and a library complex for the Tumu Training College.
The principal of the college, Mr. Charles K. Gyang, said the college would soon go tertiary and commended the government for providing the facilities that would help increase admission.
Mr. Benson urged the college authorities to work hard despite the challenges to produce quality human resource to propel the country into middle-income level status.
The Regional Minister inspected a bridge on the Napina River on the Tumu/Bolgatanga road whose top gravel had been washed away by water making it difficult for vehicle to use.
At Gwollu, Mr. Benson inspected four senior staff bungalows and four junior staff bungalows.
