We Are Africa Mission (WIAM), a Pan-African innovation and development organisation, based in Kumasi, has unveiled the WAMP Card (WIAM Access to Medical Platform Card), a groundbreaking innovation designed to transform healthcare delivery in Ghana and across Africa.
The launch, which took place in Kumasi, marks the beginning of a new era in patient-centered healthcare, offering Ghanaians a unified medical identity that provides secure, portable, and universal access to personal health records. Unlike traditional hospital-based records or fragmented insurance systems, the WAMP Card enables patients to carry their medical information wherever they go, ensuring faster, safer, and more efficient healthcare services.
The WAMP Card ensures one patient, one identity, emergency-ready, portable and
universal, inclusive access as well as digital and physical integration.
A press release issued and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi said the WAMP Card rollout begins in Kumasi through selected hospitals and clinics and would gradually expand nationwide before scaling across Africa.
"Our mission is simple, every Ghanaian deserves safe, fast, and smart healthcare access.
The WAMP Card ensures that whether you are in Kumasi or Accra, your health record follows you," said Metoh Mbah Joachim Jr., Founder of WIAM.
Healthcare experts say the initiative could significantly improve medical services in Ghana by reducing paperwork and medical errors, speeding up emergency response times, providing government and hospitals with better healthcare data and empowering patients to take ownership of their medical identity.
According to the release, registration for the WAMP Card has begun and could be completed online at wiam.1btek.com or through selected hospitals and clinics in the Ashanti region.
