Mr Enoch Sam, Digital Expert, Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), has encouraged female journalists to resort to the use of digital tools to enhance their journalistic work.
He made the call at the close of a two-day digital literacy training workshop organised by the MFWA to equip female journalists with the requisite knowledge and skills to navigate their way using the internet in their line of work.
The training brought together some selected female journalists in the Western Region to be taken through hands on training on the use of digital tools.
Mr Sam said the use of modern digital tools for information search, processing and visualization was very crucial in feeding audiences with the right sources of news stories and articles.
He noted that there were smart ways to search for information through the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools like Google Alerts, Perplexity AI among other search tools.
He explained that there were apps that could help in processing information in a summarized and comprehensive ways that could save time and ease stress as well as give audience a clear understanding of whatever that was being sent across.
“The use of ChatGPT and other processing tools can be more effective and efficient when resorted to for assistance,” he noted.
Mr Sam, encouraged journalists to be more creative when visualising their news stories, articles and features to bring out its meaning and understanding to their viewers and audience.
He emphasised that in using these digital tools to enhance information dissemination, there was the need to input the right prompt and be more specific about the end result they sought to achieve.
The training brought together 30 journalists from different media houses to be equipped on the use of digital tools to enhance their work, while advocating for the right and empowerment of women online.
