The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has challenged players of Asante Kotoko to approach the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup with the same determination they displayed in their recent President’s Cup triumph over rivals Hearts of Oak.
Speaking to the team after their 2-1 victory last Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium, Hon Adams praised the Porcupine Warriors for their spirited performance and urged them to carry the same mindset into their continental campaign.
“You were so solid against Hearts of Oak. When we go to Africa with this kind of spirit, we will conquer every team,” he said. “I just want to encourage and motivate you that you can make it—don’t be afraid”, he urged them
Kotoko booked their place in the CAF Confederation Cup after defeating Golden Kick FC 2-1 in the MTN FA Cup final two weeks ago.
The Kumasi-based giants are no strangers to the competition, having participated six times previously.
Their best performance came in 2004 when they reached the final but lost to Hearts of Oak in an all-Ghanaian showdown.
With preparations underway for the 2025/26 season, Kotoko are rebuilding their squad and technical setup under head coach Abdul Karim Zito. The President’s Cup victory is expected to serve as a springboard for their continental ambitions.
