The Parliament of Ghana on Tuesday, March 26, approved GH¢3.2 billion allocation for the Ministry of Roads and Highways for the year 2025.
This substantial funding is set to support key infrastructure projects and enhance the country’s road network.
Reports indicate that the Ghana Highway Authority, under the Ministry of Roads and Highways, plans to hire 137 new staff members to fill the gap created by the establishment of new regions and regional offices.
This initiative is part of the Ministry’s ongoing decentralization efforts aimed at improving operations. The Ministry has also outlined ambitious plans to dualize key trunk roads and enhance safety across the country’s road network.
In addition, the ongoing construction of four by-passes along the Accra-Kumasi Highway at Osino, Anyinam, Enyiresi, and Konongo is set to continue, further strengthening the nation’s transportation infrastructure.
The 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy, presented to Parliament by Dr Caasiel Ato Forson, the Minister of Finance, on Tuesday, March 11, was centered on the theme: “Resetting Ghana for the Economy We Want.”
The budget discussions concluded on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, following remarks from both the Majority and Minority Leaders.
