The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has reaffirmed the Service commitment to promote gender equity and inclusivity in their operations.
The Deputy Commissioner of Immigration (DCOI) Francis Palmdeti, the Ahafo Regional Commander of the GIS emphasised that all officers and personnel of the service would be provided equal opportunities, and fair treatment, regardless of their gender.
"Gender mainstreaming is not just about ensuring that female personnel or officers obtain higher ranks, but also ensuring fair treatment across board", he stated when addressing the 2025 maiden meeting of the District and Sector Commanders at Goaso in the Region.
DCOI Palmdeti explained that a diverse and inclusive workforce enhanced effectiveness and thereby strengthened the institution, promising to create a "workplace where every officer is valued, supported and empowered to contribute their best".
He said upholding discipline and professionalism remained the hallmark of the service, saying "without discipline our effectiveness diminishes, and public trust erodes", and urged the commanders to lead exemplary lives.
There is the need for us to cherish and instil professionalism, integrity and respect for the chain of command among the rank and file, he stated.
"We must remain steadfast in upholding the ethical standards of our service, ensuring that our officers conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on the GIS", DCOI Palmdeti urged.
On the GIS 2025-2026 Action Plan, the Regional Commander urged officers and personnel of the service to remain strategic and work hard to meet the key performance indicators for the year.
DCOI Palmdeti implored the service commanders to study, acquaint themselves and integrate provisions in the document into their daily activities, urging them to work together towards achieving the broader goals set for the service.
"Our limited resources must not limit our impact", he stated, entreating the service commanders to foster innovation with creativity, problem-solving and strategic thinking in their operations.
DCOI Palmdeti also urged the commanders to create an atmosphere of mutual respect, teamwork, and mentorship within their respective commands, saying with commitment and professionalism, the service would be able to achieve its targets.
He charged the officers to live above reproach and with dedication to the service, and help improve the service image in their operational areas.
Earlier, the commanders paid a courtesy and held discussions with Mrs Charity Gardner, the Ahafo Regional Minister.
