A delegation from the ECOWAS Court of Justice, led by its President, Justice Ricardo Cláudio Monteiro Gonçalves, has participated in the 3rd Annual East African Court of Justice (EACJ) Judicial Conference, in Kigali, Rwanda.
The two-day conference, was on the theme: "Justice, Ethics, and Enforcement of Decisions: A Judicial Pathway for Regional Development. "
The conference brought together judges, legal experts, policymakers, and regional leaders to deliberate on the role of judicial institutions in advancing justice, economic integration, and governance within regional communities.
Discussions were focused on enhancing judicial ethics, strengthening enforcement mechanisms, and fostering regional legal cooperation.
Accompanying Justice Gonçalves of the ECOWAS Court are Justice Sengu Mohamed Koroma, the Court's Vice President, Justice Dupe Atoki, and Mr. Sowe Gaye, a Registrar of the Court.
Their participation underscored the ECOWAS Court's commitment to fostering regional judicial collaboration and advancing the rule of law across Africa.
The delegation engaged in critical discussions on judgment enforcement, cross-border legal cooperation, and best practices for enhancing the effectiveness of regional courts.
This involvement highlighted the Court's dedication to delivering justice, promoting legal integration within the ECOWAS region, and strengthening ties with other judicial institutions on the continent.
