The ceremony last Tuesday evening (Feb 18) to unveil the logo saw the presence of dignitaries such as the immediate past Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Ernest Addison; the Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, Dr Kwabena Bempah Tandoh; Abusuapanyin of the Mfantsipim Old Boys Association (MOBA), Moses Baiden Jnr, MOBA council members and representatives of old students of St Mary’s Girls School and Wesley Girls Senior High School.
Logo
The anniversary logo, which was unveiled, features a combination of symbolic elements that reflects Mfantsipim's rich history, values and aspirations for the future.
The design incorporates the school's crest, which is central to its identity, the number "150" and the motto Dwen Hwe Kan, meaning "Think Ahead."
The principal colours of the school, red and black, dominate the logo, representing sacrifice, strength, resilience and unity-values which are deeply rooted in the school's atmosphere.
“This logo we unveil today is not merely a symbol. It is a testament to the enduring legacy of the Mfantsipim School. It represents 150 years of academic excellence, character formation and service to humanity,” the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, Prof. Kwabena Asamoah-Gyedu, who spoke after the unveiling, said.
He stated that the new logo served as a reminder of the sacrifices of the founders, the dedication of past and present staff and the achievements of countless alumni.
The chairman of the anniversary planning committee John Yamoah added that the logo symbolised “our rich heritage, our pursuit of excellence and our commitment to inspiring generations to come.”
MOBA Abusuapanyin Baiden emphasised the importance of unity among alumni in supporting the school's development.
"This milestone is not just about looking back; it is about looking forward together. The 150th anniversary is an opportunity for us to give back to an institution that shaped us into who we are today," he stated.
MOBA Abusuapanyin Baiden, who is also the Founder and Chairman of the Margins ID Group, announced plans for many initiatives under MOBA's leadership to support infrastructure development in the school.
