The Alliance for Nzema Development, a social advocacy network has called for the urgent need for an expert to head Ghana Gas, to help advance the integrity of such a huge national asset.
It said as Ghana Gas continued to play a critical role in the country's energy sector, it was imperative for the Company to have an expert to lead to properly direct its affairs, and to be complemented by a dynamic Board Chairman to fulfill Ghana's energy quest.
Mr Kwasi Adjobiah, the Chairman of the Alliance for Nzema Development told the Ghana News Agency, that a well vested Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with long standing association with the plant was essential, to ensure that the integrity of the plant was strengthened for driving the company's growth and successes.
He said a technical expert was key in bringing the necessary knowledge and experiences to oversee the day-to-day operations of the plant, to ensure that the plant was operated safely, efficiently and effectively.
On the other hand, a former CEO as Board Chair would provide strategic guidance and oversight, leveraging their experience and expertise to inform key decisions.
"This will help to ensure that the company is aligned with its mission and vision, and that it is making progress towards its goals," the Chairman said.
He stressed that the importance of technical expertise at Ghana Gas cannot be overstated because of the complex nature of its operations, which required a deep understanding of the technical aspects of gas production and transmission.
He added that a technical CEO would be better equipped to navigate these complexities and make informed decisions that drive the company's successes.
Mr Adjobiah explained that the appointment of a former CEO as Board Chair would also provide continuity and stability, ensuring that the company's progress was not disrupted by changes in leadership.
This, he believed, would also enable the company to benefit from the former CEO's experience and expertise, while bringing in fresh perspectives and ideas.
We, therefore, urge the President to consider the importance of technical expertise and leadership continuity at Ghana Gas as a key ingredient for industry sustainability and growth.
