The Federation of Muslim Women's Organisations in Ghana (FOMWAG) has pledged its commitment to partner with government to create a more inclusive and equitable society where every woman, regardless of background, can reach their full potential.
It said, "As a leading advocate for Muslim women's rights and empowerment in Ghana, we are committed to partnering with government to create a more inclusive and equitable society where every woman, regardless of background, can reach their full potential."
The Federation made this known in a release signed by the National President, FOMWAG, Ing. Safuratu Muhammed Andani and issued to the Ghana News Agency, on Tuesday, in Accra.
FOMWAG extended its warmest congratulations to Mr John Dramani Mahama, and Professor Naana Jane Opoku- Agyemang on their ascension to the high office of the President and Vice President of the Republic of Ghana.
It said they were optimistic that during their tenure, significant strides would be made in advancing gender equality, specifically in promoting girls' education; improving healthcare for women and children; empowering women economically; enhancing leadership skills for women; and amplifying women's voices across all sectors of society.
It said as a women-based organization, they would like to particularly congratulate Professor Opoku- Agyeman as the first female Vice President of the Republic, saying "this is a historic and well-deserved appointment."
"Your ascension to the office of the Vice President of the land is not only a personal achievement but also a monumental victory for women across Ghana."
According to the release, her success serves as an inspiration, not only in politics but also to young women and girls everywhere, that no dream is too big to achieve.
"Your exceptional leadership demonstrates that the future of Ghana is one in which women play an integral and decisive role in shaping the nation's development."
To the President, the Federation commended him for the choice of a woman as running mate and subsequently vice- president.
"This remarkable achievement is a testament to your dedication and unwavering commitment to advancing women's progress and our nation's development."
They were hopeful that government will fulfill its commitments to the Muslim community and the nation at large.
