The inauguration of the building estimated at GH¢1, 560,977 and funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND) formed part of his official working tour of the region.
The ultra-modern office complex has about twenty four offices and other ancillary facilities and would accommodate both teaching staff and non-teaching staff of the college.
Inaugurating the facility, the President said, infrastructure development in the 46 colleges of education in the country was part of the government’s agenda to promote quality education in the country.
He reiterated the commitment of the government to ensuring that teacher training college across the country got the necessary infrastructure development.
“Every single college of education in the country will get its share of the government’s infrastructure development in the education sector”, he added
President Nana Addo also called on stakeholders in the education sector to support the vision of the government’s free SHS policy to succeed.
He stressed that Free SHS had come to stay hence the need for stakeholders to support its sustainability.
The President, however, assured the teacher training students that, their allowance was safe, stressing that, “the government will continue to pay them the allowances and not cancel it”.
President Nana AddoDankwaAkufo -Addo also urged the authorities of the college to take proper care of the facility.
The Principal of the EP College of Education Mr James Gurundow M-Minibo, commended the President and his government for the infrastructure development projects undertaken so far in colleges of education across the country.
He said the government had started a construction of a number of 3-storey students’ hostel facilities across the country.
This, he said, when completed would house more than 400 students in each of the colleges of education across the country.
This according to the principal would significantly grow students’ hostel facilities in the colleges of education campuses and ease the pressure on the existing facilities.
The principal also applauded the government for his swift efforts in providing feeding grants to the colleges for them to continue with their mandate of delivering effectively as teachers’ reformers.
