The Techiman Municipal Assembly (TeMA) has received 100 LED bulbs from the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development, to enhance security, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Benjamin Yaw Gyarko, has disclosed.
According to him, replacement of faulty streets bulbs had been undertaken at Techiman Central Market, Magazine, Techiman Senior High School, Kenten, Takofiano, Old Dwomor, Anyinabrem, New Dwomor, Tunsuase, Konimase and around the Municipal Assembly block.
Mr Gyarko said this in an interview with the Ghanaian Times on the security situation of the municipality on Friday at Techiman, the Bono East Region.
The MCE emphasised that plans were advanced to get more LED bulbs and accessories to undertake general rehabilitation of street lights within the various locations in Techiman municipality.
He described the general security situation in the municipality as “relatively calm and peaceful” saying that residents freely go about their duties devoid of fear and alarm.
Mr Gyarko attributed the peaceful environment to the monitoring exercise conducted by the joint taskforce of the Police, Fire Service, Immigration Service and other security details in the Techiman Municipality.
“The taskforce patrolled public places of interest to combat possible criminal activities including illegal immigration and kidnapping among others. They also provided security at all public gatherings during the yuletide,” he noted.
The MCE said the assembly in addition, intensified police and military day and night patrols on the major streets in the municipality and reinforced officers at the check points on the major roads linking Techiman.
Mr Gyarko expressed gratitude to the security agencies in the municipality for ensuring an incident-free Christmas. He encouraged them to improve on their performance in 2022 and beyond.
“I pledge to help improve the security situation in the area together with the security details in the municipality. Let us all contribute our quota towards sustaining our gains in peace and stability “, Mr Gyarko reiterated.
The MCE thanked the Bono East Regional Minister, Mr Kwasi Adu Gyan, the Techiman Traditional Council, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Techiman South Constituency, Mr Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah and other stakeholders for their support.
