About 20 beneficiaries of the MTN Bright Scholarship scheme have graduated from various universities with first and second class honors.
Fifteen of the Bright Scholarship beneficiaries graduated from the University of Development Studies in Tamale with degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Three beneficiaries graduated from the University of Professional Studies in Accra with degrees in Actuarial Science and Accounting and Finance. Another beneficiary also graduated from Ghana Communications Technology University with first class honors and also emerged as the best student BSc. Accounting with Computing.

Supported by the MTN Ghana Foundation through its Bright Scholarship Scheme to pursue degree programs in various disciplines. The scholarship covered the cost of tuition, accommodation, and a stipend for books and other relevant reading materials that were needed during their studies.
Commenting on the outstanding performance of MTN Bright Scholars, the Chief Corporate Services Officer of MTN Ghana, Samuel Koranteng said “The MTN Ghana Foundation is excited to see beneficiaries of the MTN Bright Scholarship excel in their various fields of study. We are so proud because year on year, we witness these students top their class with some being valedictorians for their year groups.”
“We are happy to make these young lives a whole lot brighter through MTN Bright Scholarship scheme,” he added.
Miss Amina Moro, a beneficiary of the MTN Scholarship, who graduated with a first-class degree in Agricultural Technology from the University of Development Studies said, “I am so happy because when I came to UDS, there was no money for me to continue my education. I wanted to drop out and fortunately for me, one of my lecturers called and mentioned the MTN Brighter Scholarship to me. So, I applied, and I was selected and now I am a graduate. I will like to thank MTN for giving me this opportunity to be a graduate.”
Mr. Solomon Ofori Kwafo another beneficiary from the University of Professional Studies, Accra on behalf of his colleagues expressed his gratitude to the MTN Ghana Foundation for the support during the period of their studies. He said “As a result of MTN Bright Scholarship, I received the award for best graduating student in the Actuarial Science Department. Thank you MTN Ghana Foundation.”
The MTN Bright Scholarship was initiated in 2018 in fulfillment of a commitment MTN made to Ghanaians during the commemoration of its 20th Anniversary in 2016. During the celebrations, MTN, through the MTN Ghana Foundation promised to award a total of 300 scholarships over a period of three years. The final batch of 100 scholarships were awarded in the 2020 edition of the Bright Scholarship scheme.
Since the inception of the MTN Ghana Foundation in 2007, over 1,300 scholarships have been awarded to students from basic school to the tertiary level through different scholarship programs.
