The Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Ghana (TCCBCG), has renewed its commitment by extending support to the fight against COVID-19 by donating GHC 1.00 from the sale of each 1.5L PET product on the Market.
The offer, which was supposed to have ended in June has now been extended to December to enable the company continue its support towards the fight against the pandemic.
Mr Felix Gomis, the Managing Director, Coca-Cola West African Countries Business Unit, made this know when the company made a cash donation of GHS 373,999.00 to the COVID-19 Private Sector Fund to shore up government efforts in managing the pandemic in the country.
He said "from the sale of the significant number of bottles we sell, we are able to make a meaningful contribution to the COVID-19 Fund which has been established by the Private Sector in Ghana".
Mr Gomis said the gesture formed part of their Corporate Social Responsibility to complement efforts of the government.
He said the pandemic was not yet over especially with the coming of the new Delta Variant and because the future was unknown there was the need to join efforts to better the situation.
Given the unfortunate effects of the pandemic, he said the TCCBCG, in defiance of limited resources, speedily responded to the call of providing support to communities.
"We assure consumers of our continuous support to consumers by any means we can," he said.
Mr Senyo Kwasi Hosi, the Managing Trustee for the COVID-19 Private Sector Fund, expressed gratitude to the Company for the gesture.
He said the Ghana Infectious Disease Centre had been built but maintenance was critical hence, the contribution was fundamental to the sustenance of the services of the Centre.
Mr Hosi explained that the Centre now takes care of all COVID-19 critical cases in the country, thus needed support from corporate Ghana to be able to work and achieve success.
He also thanked the Coca-Cola for extending their commitment to ensure smooth running of the Centre.
