Director of Public Health at the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Asiedu Bekoe says the Indian variant of covid-19 has not been detected in the country.
According to him, Government has put in place a robust testing regime at the Kotoka International Airport to detect and isolate persons who may be carrying the virus into the country.
Addressing the issue of reports of numerous false positive tests at the Airport, Dr Bekoe said the Ghana Health Service is on top of the situation.
Meanwhile, the arrival of the next batch of Covid-19 vaccines has delayed as a result of flight challenges in Turkey. The 350,000 doses from the COVAX facility which was expected in Accra yesterday will rather be delivered tomorrow.
Manager of the Expanded Immunization Programme, Dr. Kwame Amponsah-Achiano asked Ghanaians not to worry about the expiry date of the next batch despite the delay.
He told Nathaniel Nartey that the FDA examines samples from each batch before they are administered to Ghanaians.
