The two Nigeriens who tested positive to COVID-19 and were transferred from a Police holding facility of the Accra District Police to the National Treatment Centre (NTC) have been returned to the Police facility as a matter of necessity, to enable health officials to manage them.
A statement from the Police said the two refused to submit to treatment at the NTC, making their management difficult, thus their return.
Government officials are liaising with the Ambassador of Niger on the management of the two cases, it explained.
"No Police Officer has or will come into contact with the two, however, every necessary step is being taken by police medical team to safeguard Police Officers and our facility."
The statement reminded the public to continue to cooperate with the Police and Security Services to help curb the spread of the COVID-19.
It urged all to stay home and stay safe, as security kept the frontline.
