The Accra Community Centre Magistrate’s Court Two on Thursday remanded into prison custody Francis Adjiri, a 29-year-old trader, for allegedly assaulting an Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) Guard on Wednesday, April 6.
Adjiri pleaded guilty to obstructing an AMA guard from performing his duties and would re-appear on April 20.
Mr Yaw Twumasi Ankrah, AMA Prosecutor, told the court presided over by Mr Ali Baba that on April 6, Adjiri, a dealer in mobile phone
accessories in front of New Times Corporation in Accra, was asked by the AMA guard to remove his wares because that place had not been designated for trading.
He said Adjiri became offended and refused to remove his goods therefore, the AMA guard attempted to forcibly remove the goods, during which Adjiri assaulted him.
