The Executive Director of National Service Scheme (NSS), Mr Vincent Senam Kuagbenu left Accra on Thursday night for Rome to attend the 34th Governing Council Meeting of the International Food and Agriculture Development.
A statement signed by Mr Ambrose Entsiwah Jnr, Director of Public Relations at the NSS in Accra on Friday said Mr Kuagbenu would co-present a paper with Mr Kwesi Ahwoi, Minister of Food and Agriculture.
The theme for this year’s Council Meeting is “Feeding Future Generations: Young People Today – Prosperous, Productive Farmers Tomorrow”.
The statement said the invitation of Mr Kuagbenu to attend the meeting was in recognition of efforts of the NSS in Youth Mobilisation to engage productively in agriculture.
The NSS has been involved in massive agricultural projects in Ejura in the Ashanti Region where more than 4,000 bags of maize have been harvested and sold to Senior High Schools in Ashanti Region to feed more than 22,000 students.
The Scheme is in the process of expanding its agricultural projects to the Eastern, Central, Greater Accra, and Brong Ahafo Regions.
Mr Kuagbenu is due home on February 22.
In his absence Alhaji Alhassan Imoro, Deputy Executive Director (Finance and Administration) will act.
