A GHC 110,000 six-bedroom bungalow, for the Forikrom Health Centre, has been inaugurated and handed-over to the community at Forikrom, near Techiman.
The facility was renovated by the Techiman Municipal Assembly, with the effort of Mr Addai Simons, Member of Parliament for Techiman South, who sourced for funds from the National Health Insurance Fund Authority for the abandoned nurses’ quarters.
Mr Adjei Mensah, Presiding Member of the Techiman Municipal Assembly, who handed over the project, noted that, the facility would enable nurses at the centre to provide quality health care to the people.
He said, saving the lives of people in rural communities was the government’s concern and would continue to provide CHIP-compound clinics in rural areas.
Mr Stephen Nyarko Ameyaw, Principal Technical Officer of Techiman Health Directorate, who received the keys to the Centre, commended the Municipal Assembly for the intervention.
He said with the availability of the facility, two mid-wives, a medical assistant and paramedical staffs would be posted to the centre to stop the commuting of staff from Techiman to Forikrom to treat cases of typhoid and malaria, as well as birth deliveries.
Nana Nicholas Ayiso, Adontenhene of Forikrom thanked the Assembly for the renovation and urged the nurses to stay in the area and attend to the health needs of the people.
