The people of Tei Mensah, a small farming community near Suhum, in the Eastern Region, has called on the government to extend development projects to the area, to help improve their living conditions.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Sunday, Mr Emmanuel Akunor, Nbrantehene of the community, said the District Assembly’s Common Fund (DACF) and the Member of Parliament’s Development Fund have both eluded the community and called on the government to assist them.
He said cocoa, citrus, banana and foodstuffs abound in the area, but the roads leading to the villages are bad, compelling commercial drivers to refuse carting food items to the buying centres.
Mr Akunor listed some of their priority projects as the construction of a public toilet, borehole, clinic and schools, adding that, the Odikro of the town and his elders are prepared to release more lands towards development projects, while the people are ready to support any government project with communal labour.
