A magistrate's court at Dzodze, on Tuesday remanded Dennis Dzagbana, 18, a Senior High School (SHS) student, for allegedly strangling his baby girl to death.
Dzagbana, whose plea was not taken, was provisionally charged with murder for killing his one-and-half-year-old child.
He would reappear at court on 20 December 20.
Mr Akwasi Asafo-Agyei, Dzodze District Police Commander, told the court presided over by Mr Anthony Abebrese that Dzagbana allegedly confessed to a relative that he committed the crime.
The prosecution said Dzagbana claimed he was mocked by his peers at school and was also insulted by his mother for becoming a father, so he decided to eliminate the child.
Mr Asafo-Agyei said Dzagbana also claimed that his mother also reduced his chop money because of the baby.
He said Dzagbana and Vida Amable, who were cousins leaving in the same compound at Dzodze Low-Cost Area, went into a relationship resulting in the baby.
Mr Asafo-Agyei said Dzagbana returned from school on November 19, this year and went to bed in a different room while the mother and the baby also slept in a different room.
The District Police Commander said at about 0130 hours Dzagbana sneaked into the room where the baby and mother were and strangled her without
notice.
Mr Asafo-Agyei said in the morning the baby was found foaming.
The prosecution said the baby was rushed to the hospital where she was announced dead.
