The Omanhene of Efua Ajumako, Okokodurfo Ogyeabo Nana Kwamena Hammah Ababio II has been applauded for his meritorious services and sense of patriotism over the past 50 years.
The records have it that the Omanhene Hammah Ababio had been instrumental in the establishment of the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Assembly and the Ajumako School of Languages now Ajumako Campus of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) among others.
A member of the Council of State and President of the Central Region House of Chiefs, Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, made the commendation at Ajumako on Saturday at the launch of the Golden Jubilee celebration of the enstoolment of Okokodurfo Ogyeabo Nana Kwamena Hammah.
Daasebre Ewusi, who is also the Omanhene of Abeadze/Dominase Traditional Area charged the citizenry and chiefs of Ajumako Traditional
Area to give peace a chance, reconcile with one another, unite and support development projects.
The Member of Parliament for the area, Mr Ato Forson did not mince words to support Daasebre Ewusi's remark.
The MP called on the Central Regional House of Chiefs resolve all outstanding chieftaincy disputes in the region especially, the Enyan
Denkyira Traditional Area to pave the way for development projects.
Mr John Arthur-Amissah, Chairman of Golden Jubilee Anniversary Committee, in a welcoming address, said the main anniversary was slated for
Friday March 18, 2011 through Sunday March 27 on the theme: "Rising in Unity, Elevating the Educational Standard of the Area and the
re-construction of the Omanhene's palace with emphasis on girl-child education."
To achieve this, the Chairman said it would be necessary to institute an educational fund to support the brilliant but needy students.
Mr Arthur-Amissah therefore appealed to well-wishers, local companies, non-governmental organizations, benevolent societies and individuals to support such a worthy cause.
He said some Nananoms living outside the country have indicated their preparedness to attend this historic occasion.
