Mr. Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, Nkoranza South District Chief Executive, has advised religious leaders against placing their personal interest above the welfare of their followers.
He also reminded the leaders that they are " to ensure the spiritual upliftment of the people to enable them to lead lives devoid of blemish".
Mr. Agyekum was addressing members of Nkoranza North, Nkoranza East and Nkoranza South Districts of the Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church, at the end of a five-day camp meeting at Nkoranza, under the theme: "People of Hope".
He expressed worry that: "It is unfortunate that some religious leaders are always looking for money to purchase luxury cars and live in mansions".
Mr Agyekum called on parents to be alive to their responsibilities to their children and advised the youth to be disciplined, law-abiding and humble.
He challenged religious leaders to educate parents to invest in the education of their children so that they would become responsible citizens in the future.
Pastor Emmanuel Mensah Aborampah, Communication Director of Mid-West Ghana Conference of the SDA Church, called on Municipal, Metropolitan and District Assemblies to initiate projects that would create jobs for the youth.
He suggested to the Nkoranza North, Nkoranza East and Nkoranza South District Assemblies to establish youth in agriculture project since there is enough farm land.
Pastor Aborampah announced that the Mid-West Ghana Conference of the Seventh Day Adventist Church would establish a Midwifery Nurses Training College in Sunyani.
Pastor Jacob Atta Ankomah, Nkoranza South District Pastor, said the Nkoranza SDA Church had acquired about six acres of land on the Nkoranza-Ejura road for the construction of a hospital and an initial 9,000 Ghana cedis had been invested in the project.
