The Ministry of Highways has been asked to as a matter of urgency erect road signs on the
Nkoranza-Kintampo highway to reduce road accidents.
Mr. Joseph Kwabena Nyamaah, Vice Chairman of Nkoranza District branch of the Progressive Transport Owners Association (PROTOA), who made the appeal on Thursday, expressed worry that 10 accidents had occurred on the Asekye-Krukese road, claiming 10 lives within the past three months.
He told Ghana News Agency in Nkoranza that "there are a number of sharp curves on the road and because of the absence of road signs, drivers who, are not acquainted with the road often get involved in accidents".
Mr. Nyamaah said the curve near the Tanfiano number one bridge on River Tanfi was very dangerous and needed urgent attention.
He recounted that 10 years ago 23 members of the Apostles Continuation Church at Kintampo died when the vehicle in which they were travelling
plunged into the river.
Mr. Nyamaah appealed to Kintampo and Nkoranza District Assemblies to ensure that road signs were erected on the highway.
