A total of 5,763 field workers have been recruited
in the Volta Region for the 2010 Census scheduled for the end of September.
The field workers include 4,696 enumerators, 970 supervisors and 97 senior supervisors.
Madam Augusta Okantey, Regional Statistician, who spoke in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Ho on Friday, said the field workers would be deployed to 3,600 enumeration areas across the region.
She said the recruitment exercise was very successful apart from a few initial hitches up North where some people were cut off by flooded rivers.
Madam Okantey advised all prospective field workers to check the outcome of the interview at their respective centres and prepare for training
workshops in readiness for the exercise.
She appealed to traditional rulers, opinion leaders and religious bodies to use their platforms in educating and informing the public on the census.
Madam Okantey said the success of the Census was the responsibility of every citizen, and urged the general public to commit themselves to it.
