The Kade District Magistrate court, presided over by Mr E. A. Awuah has granted bail in the sum of GHC200 to Kofi Mark, a palm-wine taper for beating Afua Serwaa, the wife of his brother.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge and he would re-appear on August 13, 2010.
The accused was however cautioned and discharged on the charge of unlawful entry into complainants room around midnight, to collect his
earthenware bowl.
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Francis Cobbina told the court that both the complainant and the accused persons were resident at Okumaning.
Two weeks prior to the incident, the accused was ejected from his room and as a result, he kept some of her belongings at the complainants room.
A week later, the accused secured a room and went to collect his belongings from the complainant who gave him all his belongings excluding his earthenware bowl.
Inspector Cobbina said despite repeated demands, the complainant would not give the bowl back to the accused.
On July 1 this year, at about 12 midnight, the complainant and her mother were asleep when the accused broke into their room and subjected
complainant to severe beating.
The complainant fell and raised an alarm and neighbours went to the scene to rescue her but the accused fled the scene before their arrival.
The accused was later arrested at his hideout and was arraigned.
