Nana Ameyaw Yeboah, Chief of Sikaa in Nkoranza North District, has appealed to the district assembly to support the community to in the rehabilitate the four boreholes in the area.
He said the boreholes, fitted with pumps, were provided by the ADRA, a non-governmental organisation, and an individual but had not been
functioning for the past four years.
Nana Yeboah, who is also the Krontihene-Gyasehene of Nkoranza Traditional Area, said the only source of drinking water for the people was
rivers of Atta and Asunkor.
He said the people had to walk between three and 12 kilometres to fetch water from the two rivers and appealed to the assembly to help the
community.
"We are ready to complement any effort for the early rehabilitation of the boreholes," Nana Yeboah said.
He commended the District Chief Executive, Nana Yaw Gyan Tutu, for providing the basic school in the area with a block of three classrooms,
office and store.
