Police Lance Corporal Mathew Nde Appiah, 32,
stationed in Tamale, on Friday morning shot and wounded his wife, Dorcas, with an AK47 assault rifle, accusing her of infidelity.
The woman is reported to be in critical condition at the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
Information gathered by the GNA indicates that Lance Corporal Mathew Nde Appiah has been suspecting the wife of flirting with other men.
Chief Inspector Ebenezer Tetteh, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Northern Regional Police Command, told the Ghana News Agency that Lance Corporal Appiah went to the charge office and booked the AK47 rifle for official duties.
He said about 0830 hours he returned home from his duty post to take his breakfast, saw his wife washing and suddenly gun shots were heard.
Chief Inspector Tetteh said policemen who were at the barracks rushed to the scene and sent Dorcas to the Tamale Teaching Hospital where she was
admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.
He said Lance Corporal Appiah threatened people with the rifle and warned people not to come near him but later surrendered to the police.
