The Council of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) at its meeting in Kumasi on Friday appointed the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Professor William Otoo Ellis as the new Vice Chancellor for a four-year term.
A statement Mr Kobby Yebo-Okrah, Registrar of the University, signed said the appointment takes effect from October 1 2010.
Professor Ellis aged 52, is a renowned Food Scientist; Researcher and a Consultant, rendering consultancy services to major food processing
companies in the country.
Prof Ellis, who hails from Saltpond, Central Region, worked at the Food Science and Technology Section of the Biochemistry Department of the
University for 13 years and rose to become the Head.
He obtained a PhD Degree in Food Science from McGill University, Canada in 1993 having graduated with BSc Biochemistry, Second Class Upper from KNUST in 1987.
Prof. Ellis holds a certificate in High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) Applications from Beckman Instruments Incorporated, Canada, 1990; Certificate in Principles of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) from National Resources Institute, Britain 2001; and
Certificate in Cassava Production and Processing from EMBRAPA, Brazil, 2005.
Prof Ellis has a wife and two children. His hobbies include athletics and playing of lawn tennis.
